Oakland Township, MI Homes for Sale and Local Guide
Oakland Charter Township sits directly north of Rochester Hills and covers about 36.7 square miles, with just over 20,000 residents (2020 Census). The township describes itself as a rural, wooded residential community, and its master plan deliberately limits commercial development and density, which is why it still feels open and green. Buyers come here for large lots, custom homes, equestrian properties and privacy.
Rochester Community Schools serves most of the township, with smaller areas in Lake Orion and Romeo Community Schools, so I verify the district for every property. The Paint Creek Trail runs through the historic community of Goodison, home of the Paint Creek Cider Mill, and the township's parks include 107-acre Bear Creek Nature Park. Part of Stony Creek Metropark also lies within the township.
